Let’s finish ‘How to prepare a story for telling.’

In parts 1 and 2, I wrote mainly about how the story becomes part of you through telling and imagining it.

However, you must also prepare for the listeners to whom you will tell the story.

Let me give you some examples.

I have often told a 45-minute version of ‘White Bear King Valemon’ to children aged 7-10. Last year, I was asked to tell this story to a mixed audience of children and adults. I took quite some time to review the story and consider where it interests adults.
